BC educators lead the breakout sessions at Connecting Leaders: Schools for the Future
Already 80% subscribed: More than 380 people have already registered for the BCPVPA fall provincial conference, Connecting Leaders: Schools for the Future, October 22-23. The conference will feature a strong group of BC educators who have confirmed participation as presenters. Among those leading the breakout sessions are: Lynne Tomlinson & Scott Slater; Jennifer Auld; Les Dukowski; Sean Cameron; Dean Irvine, Alannah MacPhail & Lisa Upton; Carl Repp; Vivian Collyer; Kevin White & Karen Flello; Bev Forster, Shelley Green; Marilyn Merler; Patti Holm; Ian Landy; Terry Taylor & Natasha Miles; Cale Birk; Denis Harrigan; Kathy Rothwell; and Lisa McCullough & Rhonda Ovelson. In addition, the two keynote speakers are Tony Wagner, author of The Global Achievement Gap and co-director of the Change Leadership Group at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Carla Rieger, who will share ideas and strategies about creative leadership. Groups of 10 BCPVPA members registering at the same time receive the eleventh registration free (save $532 for the group).
The conference will be held at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel in Richmond.

The Leadership Standards for Principals and Vice-Principals in British Columbia
The BCPVPA has now published the Leadership Standards for Principals and Vice-Principals in British Columbia. The intended purpose of the leadership standards is to provide a framework for professional preparation and growth of aspiring and practicing principals and vice-principals. The structure of the leadership standards describe effective, observable leadership actions which can be used for self-assessment, self-reflection and as the basis for personal professional growth planning.
